Keturah:
What inspired you to begin creating music?
Vina Love:
I began as a dancer and always loved being on stage. I had such a good time when I realized I had a voice. I was like oh, OK. Let’s try this all together. So I think having the ability is what inspired me to go forward. I just had to know that I was able to do it.
Keturah:
Who are some of your musical influences?
Vina Love:
Some of my musical influences are Mary J. Blige, my dad of course (Kid Capri), Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. There are so many different people and so many different genres. I remember listening to so many different kinds of music growing up so I would say there is a melting pot of music that I listen to that has influenced me to make music.
Keturah:
Which one of your songs is currently your favorite and why?
Vina Love:
That’s a hard one! I would say it’s between “Depend” and “My World.” They both have two different feelings but “Depend” just makes me feel like I don’t know, I don’t really have words for it. They just make me both feel really good. They make me wanna dance. They make me wanna sing so I would say “Depend” and “My world”.
Keturah:
How would you describe your personal style?
Vina Love:
I would describe my personal style as a little bit of streetwear with a little bit of glam at the same time. I’m really into a lot of accessories, but I do love baggy clothes as well. I also like to be really girly but sporty too, so a perfect mixture of both. Like a little hot & cold and a little sweet & sour. I think that’s the perfect way to describe myself.
Keturah:
Describe your go-to nail look?
Vina Love:
I’m always gonna go for something really long and colorful and every nail is gonna be a different type of nail. It’s gonna be overdramatic and completely over the top. I gotta be icy too or it has to have piercings or something like that because I’m a sensory person and I love being able to touch stuff on my nails. If I’m having a calm week then I just need everything to be regular. I’m definitely going for a short French because that’s just so classic and we need a fresh French every now and then.
Keturah:
What’s one nail trend you have been loving lately?
Vina Love:
The nail trend I’ve been loving lately is the bamboo earring frame nail. I’m loving that because I’m a New York girl, “an around the way girl” so to see a bamboo earring on a nail, I think that’s so dope and then like the full set that comes with like the whole New York vibe I love that.
